I have here a paper grouping I recently added to my collection to a Gefreiter of the 15th Panzer Division who participated in the Battle of " El Alamein " ( this is recorded in his Wehrpass ) and was killed in Afrika on the 10/12/1942 ( the 15th Panzer Division suffered heavily during the El Alamein Campaign and was vertually destroyed ) ,, This grouping includes his Wehrpass with photo + 10 other photos of him, one being a portrait shot in full DAK uniform ,, a bunch of letters from the German War Graves Association to his father dated the 19/02/1960 concerning his sons grave in Tobruk , a news paper cliping that I can not read and some photo copies with details on his Regiment and Division ,, <O</O
This Gefreiter was a member of the 7. Panzer Grenadier Regiment 115 at the time of his death ,, He was trained on Hand Grenades, K98 and the MG 34 ,, An iteresting observation on the Portrait shot, it would apear to me that the photographer added a larger Eagle and Cockade to the Gefreiter's Field Cap ( may have decided that the faded originals where not going to show up well in the finished portrait ) ? ..<O</O
Due to my very poor German I would certainly appreciate any further information from other collectors on anything else of interest that apears in this Wehrpass ..
Many Thanks ..
