    10th Sturm Regt.

    Hi,

Can anyone provide me information or a reference on the 10th Sturm Regt. I have a photo album in my collection that includes a Wehrpass and EK2 document on a LW paratrooper KIA in Russia on 14 Jan 1942. Thanks - Bill Petz

No comments surely someone can provide some input or reference on where I can find out about the 10th Company/Sturm Regt? in the year 1941/42 on the Russian front. Thanks - Bill

      Sturmregiment in Russia

      Hi,

Dietrich Brehde wrote the history of the IV. Bataillon from 1940 to 1945. Although it only covers the 13th to 16th companies in detail, it does provide a good picture of the general situation of the regiment at the time. It was published by Schild-Verlag under the title "Der blaue Komet", ISBN no. 3-88014-095-2.

Hans-Martin Stimpel's "Die deutsche Fallschirmtruppe 1942-45, Einsätze auf Kriegsschuplätzen im Osten und Westen" gives an excellent overview of all FJ actions on the Eastern and Western fronts. It is published by Mittler, ISBN 3-8132-0683-1.

The only other popular books I am aware of in German are a bit too superficial. I can't tell you anything about English books on the subject because I don't have any.

I'll be going to my local FJ Stammtisch on Saturday which will probably be attended by at least one Sturmregiment vet. If he is there, I'll ask him about his memories of January 1942.

      All the best,

      David

        Bill,

Do you mean 10 Kompanie, Sturm Regiment? I had a group which I recently sold to a member of 14/Sturm Regiment...this was an honourism for Fallschirmjäger Regiment 12, 4 Fallschirmjäger Division.
It was formed from elements of the old of I/Luftland Sturm Regiment and 2 Fallschirmjäger Division.

If you say 1942 then I would say it must be Luftland Sturm Regiment as the Fj.Rgt. 12 did not come into existance until 1944?!

          10Kp./Sturm Regt.

          David and Ian,

Thanks for providing some input. I believe this regiment may have been in the Leningrad battle area during 1941/42. I cannot pin it down. The Wehrpass mentioned Lobokino as the location where this FJ was KIA. I will try to track down those additional references. I have plenty of my own and have alot of reading to do. Thanks again - Bill
