    photo's in Soldbücher

When were photo's attached in to the Soldbuch? Some say beginning/mid 1944, but I have a Soldbuch that was clossed in august 1943 and allready has a photo inside. The Soldbuch is 100% original, and so is the picture inside.....

So far the earliest order I have found stating the addition of the photo is from 16.11.1943........however I have a Soldbuch that has a photo and dated on pages 3 for the additon on 6.10.1943....

I think the majority of units did not start adding them until 1944....and the majority I have found are from May/June 1944.......

I know of two DAK Soldbücher that have "original" photos however .......

Also Kriegsmarine do not fall into this catagory as they had a photo from the date of issue (or there abouts!!!).

I always treat any with a photo prior to October 1943 with suspicion and verify that the unit stamps matches that of a unit he served with, a hospital he was in or at least the same geographical locations!!!

The photo is shows the man in black panzer uniform, and is stamped twice with feldpostnummer 10707.
Due to the fact that it is zweitschrift the only units listed are Stab Kp. I./Pz.Rgt.25 and Pz.Ers.Abt.25 first in Erlangen later in Schweinfurth.
There is no entry stating the addition of a photo.

Well the FP Nr. corresponds with the unit so it sounds like you have an example of a Soldbuch with photo August 1943!!!
Can you post an image of it?
I remember seeing it some time ago on your or Stijn's home page....

Regarding a statement of addition of a photo...I have only seen one example, however I have seen date stamps that could be related to the inclusion of a photo on the inside cover but no solid evidence to prove it!!!

Interestingly the photo is not signed...I wonder it if was put in after his death???

I see no reason to do so, but a possibility!!??

I also wondered why there was no signature on the first page.

If I lift the photo a little bit up his name is written in pencil on the back of it.
It also a puzzle for me.... that was why I asked about the photo's.
It seems like there is still no water tight answer....and I fear there will not be one fast.
Contra : photo is not signed, date is to early for a photo in the Soldbuch
pro: stamp feldpostnummer is correct photo seems to me an original pre 45
