    SS Soldbuch HELP

    Dear Forum Members,

I would be greatful if I can get some help decoding this SS NCO Soldbuch. I think he was in several units/divisions. My main question, is in what units/divisions did the NCO serve? The scans came out in a bit of a glare, and I oly scanned those pages which I felt contained significant information. Thanks to everyone in advance for their help!

    Best Regards,
    Dave.

Jahrgang 1924 and he has the Alter Kämpfer Winkel? Perhaps the fotos is reapplied. He still looks very young to be wearing this badge...As for the book itself, it looks fine.

As Erich has already mentioned odd to be wearing the Ater Kämpfer Ehrenwinkel! Not sure if there was some sort of honourism connected to this if you were clearly not old enough!?!?!?

Also his front line units are

8 Kompanie, SS Totenkopf Infanterie Regiment 1, 3 SS Totenkopf Division

15 (Kradschützen) Kompanie, Panzergrenadier Regiment 1, SS Panzergrenadier Division 9 "Hohenstaufen". Later renamed Panzergrenadier Regiment 19 "Hohenstaufen".

Ian bet me to the Volksbund listing.

But I can tell you that there is a Zwingerstrasse in Döbeln (this town is between Leipzig and Dresden) and there are a few Büttner familes who live there...perhaps relatives?

Gents, thank you so very much for the awesome information!

In regard to the photo in the soldbuch, it is 100% original to the book. I can not imagine why the young lad would have an "Old Fighters" chevron, in the photo he does look his age 18/19, but there, clear as day, is the chevron on his NCO tunic! I have scanned below images which came out better than the previous, of the front of the book as well as the first two pages. It is clear that the book and photo have never been tampered with or touched.

Also I guess if he was in Totenkompf, probably in Russia, he must have comprised the NCO cadre for Hohestaufen when it was formed, as they did rely on combat experienced divisions to provide the new division officers and NCOs.

Also I guess then he was never in the LAH.

Thanks Again Fellows, You gents are awesome!
