    wehrpass entry- help needed!

    Im hopeing someone can help me with this entry,i could understand some of it (I think!)
    line 1 killed march 31st 1944
    line 2 ?(buried?) heros cemetary of the 21st I.D
    line 3 southwest (plaskau?) in the ?
    line 4 ? ? ?
    line 5 (reichter Block?)Reiche 10 (row?) grave #8

    Killed in action 31.3.1944.
    Burial site: Hero's Cemetery of the 21. Inf.Div.
    southwest of Pleskau in the neighbourhood of
    the municipality of Nikolschtschina
    right section, row 10, grave # 8

      Interesting Yancy. Have you checked the Volksbund database to see if he was found again after the war and reburied?
      Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.

        thanks Hans for your help!Simon i have never figured out how to check the Volksbund database,I should do a search of this site as im sure it has been explained here in one of the forums.

              No one with that name. Are you sure about the spelling? Absolutely no one with that last name. And "Erick" doesn't sound too German (Erich ?).

                If there's no one with that name in it, please contact the volksbund, there may be family members alive that don't know where there father, brother, man etc are burried ,

                    sorry for the delay im responding,right after i posted this thread my computer crashed and i ended up haveing to buy a new one!Ive spent the last week trying to figure out how to use my new imageing software to shrink down pitures and scans so i could post them on the forum-(it was alot easier useing photoshop!)anyways as for the name i personally cant make out the name, the name i posted was on a page of research that the previous owner of this wehrpass had typed up and stuck in the inside pocket-if anyone could make out the name i would appreciate it!

                      the first name is Erich. The familiyname looks like Bochtisch or something similiar. Maybe You could just post a large image of just name. It is hard to read at the moment.

                        sorry about the delay in posting the scan due to computer/imageing software problems i was unable to get a better scan,i have bought a new computer/scanner/software so im back in buisness,here is his name can anyone make it out?if anyone needs it enlarged anymore let me know.

                          A good idea when you can't make out the name is to:

                          i) Look at the other details on the initial pages that have been filled out by the same hand and try and recognise how they've written different letters or combination of letters
                          ii) Look at the signature of the man hinself - different handwriting might be easier to read
                          iii) Look at the details of the next of kin - this will nearly always be in a different hand to that which initially filled out the WP

                          Yancy - can you post ii) and iii)?
