    Medical Soldbuch entries

    Hello guys,

I could use some help with medical entries in a new Soldbuch of mine. He was first wounded on the 15th of May, but I can't read the nature of the wound on the first line. I guess it should be about the same as the verdict when he was moved to Reserve-Lazarett Bad Berka: "Granatsplitter Verletzung rechter Unterschenkel, Verletzung linker Unterschenkel" (artillery wound in the lower right and left legs).

I have again some problems with his second wound, received on the 30th of August 1941. Does it say "O.Pferd.a.d.lk. (next page) Fuss getreten"? Code 34 is for non-combat accidents, so... did a horse tread on his left foot? Then what is the "O" for in O.Pferd?

Another small dillemma in the same Soldbuch is his weapon entry; did he receive a Gewehr 43 in 1943, or is it just a coincidence and is it a k98 marked 43? I would hope the 98 in the left collumn only relates to the first entry?

    Thanks guys!

The first wound entry is "Hautabschürfung" - skin abrasion

        Weapon entry:

His first gun (first entry) was a Gewehr 98 given to him 9.2.1942. It was given back 20.8.43

        A Gewehr 43 he received 1.9.43.

          I think the 3rd woundentry could be " O" (- Ordonnanz) - Pferd a.(uf) d.(en) lk. (linken) Fuß getreten.

An ordinance horse stood on his left foot.

Thanks Gerdan. So I guess after his first wound sustained in Belgium, he was only diagnosed a skin abrasion in the Feldlazarett, then sent to the Reserve Lazarett in the Heimat where they they did remove some shrapnell.

Interestingly, he only received the black wound badge after leaving hospital for the horse accident. Perhaps they forgot to give him the award back in 1940 and this was corrected by the medical staff in 1941? It makes not much sense he would get a VWA for a horse running over his foot, and not for a (minor) shrapnell wound?

            O. for Ordonnanz makes sense.. thanks again!
