Mistakes definitely happened. I also have a few examples, including a SS-Soldbuch (with an amazing SS field gray wrapper photo and wearing a 2 piece insignia SS-M43 field cap!), doc group and personnel file to a Totenkopf-Division Demjansk survivor who wound up crewing a self propelled "Wespe" during Kursk and was wounded at Kharkov on 18.August 1944. His SS-Uberwachungskarte listed him as being with SS-Art.Ausb.u.Ers.Abt. from 08.June through 18.August of 1943, and then on the next line with the same training and replacement unit from 18.August through November 1943 (?!?) Like Ian said, without all the "pieces" and some research it would have seemed as though - based on the clerical error on the SS-Uberwachungskarte and the wound date- he was wounded the very same day he arrived in the field, 18.August 1944 (and means he would have missed Kursk). However, entries in his Soldbuch, documents in his personnel file and detailed entries on his SS-Stammkarte confirm he was in the field fighting with SS-Art.Rgt.3 from Feb.1943 through 18.August when he was shot in the elbow while crewing a Wespe!
