Right. There were many Poles living in St.Petersburg before WWI. There were also many Poles in Latvia, especially in Riga and Latgalia region.
I guess these guys have no shoulderboards because they are ex-POWs with a Hilfswillige status.

In the second Doc for Caune - he was not born in Leningrad - he was born in Riga in 1914, live in Stynka and Daugavpils/Dunaburg

            Very nice one

The soldiers of my documents also transfered to some kind of Fallschirm units at the end of 1944.

Did you find your soldbuch in Latvia?

Old thread and unfortunately some of the images have been lost, however still some useful info in it ...

I just picked this up and interestingly he also ended up with a Fallschirm unit. The FP Nr. is written to page 1:

                61786 - 3 Kompanie, Fallschirm-Nachschub-Bataillon 21

                    Exactly Jeff,

Thought I'd get myself an example.......interestingly he has the same surname as a once wanted war criminal and was born in the same place!

Perhaps it is a common surname:

                    Konrad Kalejs
