It's very simple - many of the coleagues here know how the authentic Stuka 186 tag looks like and they also know the fonts used for fake tags stamping
And yes I can only confirm the tag is a bad fake.

              Tag

              Hi Guys,
I know this thread is 10 years old, but I cannot find an image anywhere on here or the Net of what should be the correct format or style of text for one of these tags. Can anyone help with a link or an image? Many thanks!

                Hello

It would be coded with code of Mobilisierungshauptliste of the Luftwaffe.

                MobCode / dogtagnumber.

For a dogtag with number 50 it would be:
                73033 / 50

                Best regards, Fronti

                    For sure not!
                    Flying personal wore coded tags.

                    Best regards, Fronti

P.S. I am not sure if there were dogtags of this unit given out at all.

Many thanks for your help Fronti! That makes sense.

So were codes only used during the War then? Would it be possible say from a KG unit that existed pre WW2 to have the KG number on it or not?

                      Thanks again!

                        Hello

German Army (Wehrmacht) had no dogtags pre-war.

Dogtags were given out during the mobilizatiom in August 1939.

                        Best regards, Fronti

Thanks. Very interesting - especially seeing Germany had been in conflicts such as the Spanish Civil War - Austria and the Sudetenland. Thanks again for your help! Much appreciated!
