Just wanted to know,I have my grandfathers Soldbuch ,do other soldbuchs have so many spelling mistakes and dates, and awards not concurring with each other example, his birth date does not match between the soldbuch and the Deutsche Dienstelle, with the soldbuch being wrong,no Wehrnummer listed,he recieved a black wound badge not mentioned, every award document his name is spelled wrong even the Iron cross 2nd class cert.signed by Oberfuhrer Wisch, his div from from 1942 to 1944 artillery regiment LSSAH,then transferred to Schwere ss art.abt.504, the document i have states he recieved the assault badge ,is panzer version without grade, did a lot of artillery men have this, his photos show him wearing it also. If theres reasons for this could someone let me know or is this common. thanks.

There can be mistakes. Even the Germans couldn't always read the writting. I have a Kriegsmarine Fuhrungsbuch to a relative who's name was Weihs. All through the book and other paperwork, his name was spelled correctly or as Weiss. Why? Because the old script the "hs" looked like "ß" or ss. Also, some awards were not listed in the Soldbuch because of a regulation that it could not be entered there unless entered first listed in the Wehrpass. And of course, on the other hand, some entries did not follow regulations, there was no time to make the entries due to combat or the admin personel didn't just didn't do it.
