      Hiag

No, not really. They loved to pick on everyone basically, pointing to the sleeve, implying that they wore 'The Name' !

Much earlier, I was only told, that they even sat seperatly in the meetings, per division and even seperated between officers and NCOs/men.

Then there were also the seperate sit-togethers of the men of the 'Schwarze SS', the early men, who did not necessarily want to comingle with the later SS men, especially those who entered after Kharkov, etc.

      The gents were somewhat special...

Thanks for that info, Markus. Interesting to hear, since so few of us were privileged and lucky enough to have ever attended such meetings I can understand the attitude towards the post-1943/44 W-SS personnel coming in as replacements. These veterans who served back in the SS-VT days and had survived the first horrific few years of the war must have really had some incredible stories to tell, considering all they had been through.

I'm researching the SS-Panzer-Regiment 12 at the moment and I did manage to find Bussmann on original records. From my archive:

          Sonderbefehl nr. 17
"Im Namen des Führers wurden mit Wirkung vom 24.7.1944 nachstehende
          Führer, Unterführer und Mannschaften ausgezeichnet:
          "

Bringing this thread back to life, I have come across two POW Photos, one with the name of Bussmann on the reverse. Look closely - even though the hairline has (majorly) receded do you see the characteristic Bussmann larger ears and squared chin in the POW photo ??? (Remember, there would have been at least about 7 or 8 - possibly / probably more - years between these photos).
