    Soldbuch Stalingrad?

    Hello,

    Today this soldbuch arrived.
    I have a few questions.
1: I know that Jag. Rgt. 54 ( 100 Jag. Div.) saw action in Stalingrad. But was this man in Stalingrad and dit he got wounded there?

2: On page 8c is the entry M.P. 44 is this the same weapen as a sturmgewehr 44?

3: On page 21 you can see fuhrerpacketes und fuhrergeschenk, what is the difference between these two.

    Henry

                  Hi,

                  1. He actually got wounded in/around Stalingrad, probably somewhere in the end of september or early oktober and they could bring him safely back to Poland. according to the Soldbuch he got Krankenheit 31 A, which is a wound caused by the enemy. A stands for 'die die Tauglichkeit nicht beeinträchtigen' which basically means it does not inhibit the mans quality to see combat action.

                  2. There is no difference between M.P. 44 and STG44(Sturmgewehr 44).

                  3. I think it is basically the same: first it describes he is entitled to receive the Führerpacketes and then it confirms that he received the Führergeschenk. (He just wrote it in a different way I think)

                    Soldbuch Stalingrad?

                    Hi,

While since his unit saw action in Stalingrad than it is entirly possible that he did as well. Also the entry dates for him entering the hospitial are in the timeframe of the Battle of Stalingrad (first one being 10.10.1942), making it very believable that he was wounded during the battle of Stalingrad.

On page 8c is the entry M.P. 44 is this the same weapen as a sturmgewehr 44?
Its the exact same weapon. The only differance is the name, which was later only changed for propaganda reasons.
On page 21 you can see fuhrerpacketes und fuhrergeschenk, what is the difference between these two.
Führergeschenks were small packages filled with goodies that were given to soldaten going home on leave. Never heard of fuhrerpacketes though.

                    Hope this helps.

                        31a stands for Bulletwound(s).

                        Friendly regards
                        Bart
