On the ink stamps inner side of the circle with the eagle in the center ,it says Pan3.Gren.lehr-Btl. or Panz. Gren.Ers Batl.50 Can some one tell me about this outfit? Thanks Bill V

Panzergrenadier-Ersatz-Bataillon 50
Formed 10.9.1942 through reorganising Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon (mot) 50, Küstrin; 1.10.1942 divided into Ersatz and Ausbildungs Bataillon; 12.4.1943 agaub reunited as Panzer Grenadier Ersatz und Ausbildungs Bataillon 50; 10.8.1943 again divided into Ersatz and Reserve Bataillon; the Ersatz Bataillon remained in Küstrin, lastly with Kampfgruppe Grube.

Replacement Battalion....normally in the homeland or rear areas that provided replacment troops for front line units.....this could be raw recruits, soldiers convalescing from wounds etc.
