Me and Henner already chatted about this but I did not see all the scans......looking at it, I would say it was doubtful he was involved with Eban Emael, if he was then he was straight out of a training unit!
The action was 9.5.1940-10.5.1940 , however his kit issue page says he was Versetzung - transferred in June 1940....all other entries do not say anything around that time.....
Rare unit though either way!

Same unit
This EKII doc is from a set to a soldier in the same unit. I have been told that he crossed the Belgian border the night of 9 May 1940 but I have no idea really what this unit did.
The signature of no less than a Heeresgruppe commander on a EKII urkunde ads credence to something important.

The signature (Fedor von Bock) indicates at what level the battalion was commanded from. ie. it was an independent unit placed directly under Heeresgruppe command.

I agree with Ian, you don't rush a recruit through 8 weeks of basic then straight into a specially trained unit for an important specific job like that, unless all they wanted was cannon fodder. It's ironic however that his first kit issue with the battalion just happened to be on the day the French signed the armistice.Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.
