            Thomas,

Page 2 shows his first unit was:

Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 208, formed in Neuwied, Wehrkreis XII.

            Page 4, section C:
            a. Marsch Bataillon, Wehrkreis XII
            b. 10 Kompanie, Grenadier Regiment 208 (79 Inf.Div. Wehrkeis XII)

            Page 17, section C:
            a. Genesenden Marsch Kompanie, Wehrkreis XII, 79 Inf.Div, 34 (?)
            b. 5 Kompanie, Grenadier Regiment XV (?)
            c. Infanterie Geschütz Kompanie, Grenadier Regiment 1119 (553 Gren.Div., Wehrkreis V)

So, you can see the transfer (Marsch) Battalions were formed in the Wehrkreis his training and field units belonged. Later the convalescent transfer Battalion was formed again in the same Wehrkreis but specifically for his Division.

However, currently I am not sure what Gren.Rgt. XV is and by battery is about to go.....later.

            /Ian

I have remembered I have a Wehrpaß to a member of a Grenadier Regiment XV or something similar.
What reminded me was he served with the same unit Gren.Ers.Btl. 208 which was in Metz....the same time as the battle for Metz 1944! From what I gathered they were hastily formed units from the troops in Metz and the NCO school there.....

                More later as battery going

I used to have another soldbuch for a member of Gren. Ers. Btl. 208 (I believe
it is with Jungco now) which has a unit entry which looks like "D XII" so there
might be a connection with these "X-entries" and Gren. Ers. Btl. 208 (maybe
                  Metz?).

                  Same in German:
Ers. Btl. 208 geben (evtl. Metz?).

Ian, would those units at Metz be similiar to the units made from NCO schools around Arnhem during Market-Garden?
