This soldbuch makes me think of the scene in Band of Brothers where the heckling some german soldiers and one of them was actually american but was told by his family he needed to serve his fatherland.

I only had photos of 3 pages and one was of the Brandenburg paper. I thought at that price I am getting it. Great surprise and well worth it.
It took almost 4 weeks to get it. It finally showed up in an envelope from th USPS. The original package had been damagesd. A little note inside said " Seig Heil you Nazi Bastards"
Disgusted but relieved it showed up. I have lost 2 other soldbuchs that arrived in New York from Germany that are missing this summer.Comment

I saw this one and bought it for the address. I used to live about 60 miles west of this little town. Drove through it many times. Many, many German immigrants in North Dakota, including my grandparents.
I don't think this guy was able to see his mother on a home leave, but he did find a wife.Comment

Interesting indeed.....A while back, I had a Wehrpass to a 10th SS Frundsberg member (a SdKfz 251 Radioman) who was born in Chicago, Illinois, USA. It was impossible to get any stats on this fellow from the US authorities as they would only release that info. to proven relatives...
