Unfortunately all I can tell you is he was not a holder of high awards e.g. Honour Goblet, German Cross, Knight's Cross.
Also he is not listed on the German War Graves site as being killed or missing in action.
With the rank of Jäger and joining the Luftwaffe in 1940, there is a high chance he was Fallschirmjäger.
