E-marke question

I need a little help with an E-marke I bought yesterday. The tag reads Gen./Kav.Ers.Abt.. 5 and his E-marke nr. is 9. My question is what does the Gen. stand for, the rest is Kavallerie Ersatz Abteilung 5, but the Gen.? Many thanks, Chris.

According to my refrences it can only mean General.

Gen. stands for "Genesende" - not General.


So, your tag reads "Genesende (convalescent)-kompanie/Kav.Ers.Abt.5"

Many thanks for that. Interesting that he, or someone near him wrote his rank (Uffz.), name and then copied the front of the tag in pencil on the back. Chris.
