Here his promotions and awards, looks like he has two lucky days, one for the EK II and PABiB and the other for the WBiB and the Ostmedaille.

Last operation entries, look the rest and refit in France and his service in Greece against partisans prior to his return to the East Front from where he never returned.

He was wounded in his right shoulder on August 14th, 1.941 and finally KIA on December 9th, 1.943.

Another young life lost in the vast fields of Russia.

His obituary, looks like no mention of his Nahkampfspange as was awarded later.

When you cross info with other groups you find some interesting things.

Our brave Unteroffizier was KIA in Iskra on December 9th, 1.943, the same day other Unteroffizier in the same regiment fought hard and brave not far from there in Federowka and this day was credited to him as a Nahkampftäge. http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=302813

                        Wp

I guess that is the only drawback of the thrilling Panzer-Soldbuch-thread.
A nice group of a brave soldier like this one gets not much attention ...

Good that they kept the obituary with the WP, another example where a
small piece of paper makes a big difference to a group. Actually quite touching
                        to read it.

Anyway, thanks for posting this Angel. There can never be too many WP and SB
                        threads in this forum!

Very nice Angel......your unhealthy appetite for 1 Panzer Division

As Jochen mentioned, it has been overshadowed by the Pz. Soldbuch thread! This happens quite often and lesser known or smaller items don't get a look in but they are all unique and worth collecting!! What would we spend our money on otherwise, our wives

I must amdit, I tend to miss a lot as I simply do not have the time to sit on forums anymore...........

I am also hypnotised by the Panzer thread and I understand that "minor" pieces pass unnoticed when you see such wonderfull ones, but as st5ated this small ones are also interesting, more when you are lucky to adquire ihn a short time three groups from the same regiment and see how the life of the soldiers was and this changes your mind (I think all paper collectors changed their monds a lot of time ago) and tend to view our little or big trasures with other eyes, a more human ones, we can feel the papers as more than a simply sheet of vegetal material with a value, they take into life the memories of the past, this is why I collect documents.

Look at this one, without the other group I only have a poor young man death in Russia, togheter we can show the different in a war, the same day one killed for his country and survived, the other was killed for his counttry and remembered and revered by their beloved ones, for the first was another day just one more in his race for survival and something sunk into the miriad of other days he survived, for his beloved ones nothing special, they never know how close was him to death. For the other, the last one, for his beloved ones a day to remember with pain, a day when they lost a son, a brother, a friend..........

I hope all this little ones keep coming, but don't refuse to take some of the biggers if aforable.
