Very nice Soldbuch, Jim... Quite a listing of promotions on page 01! And of course, nice "wrapper" photo

Thanks for sharing it with us.

Rob, thanks, you will laugh but I picked this up on the same day that all the other ones were picked up (the GD group and Pz Afrika Korps group)! Naturally this is nothing in comparison to your new acquisition'!

This is a more peculiar document lot, a Romanian Soldbuch and Wehrpass set (actually the Romanian equivalents) to a Romanian Tank Commander.

1st Lieutenant Sotir Gheorghe was a Renault R35 Tank Commander from the Romanian 2nd Tank Regiment. He was a platoon commander in the battles for Bessarabia in June to July 1941, and he went even to participate in the first stages of battles for Odessa.

On the day of July 23rd, while his R35 platoon was engaged in an armed recon mission near the village of Plateievca, his tank took three direct hits, alongside a second tank from his platoon. Unfortunately, both 1st Lieutenant Sotir and his crewman/driver Sergeant Major Nicolae Nedov (a Romanian volunteer from Bessarabia) died in the flaming tank.

For his actions, he was awarded the highest Romanian military order for bravery, Michael the Brave third class.

His CO, and an image from the memorial service held by his unit and his comrades.

Absolutely fascinating, Alex! This is the very first Romanian "Tanker" Soldbuch I have ever seen and the info you have on his unit, career and especially the info on the battle in which he perished makes it all the more impressive. Thank you very much for sharing it with us.

Thought I'd bring this one back up to the top!
Anyone else have any Panzer/StuG/AFV crew IDs they'd like to share?

Just stumbled upon this thread again due to searching more info about a Sturmgeschütz Brig. 667 Soldbuch i got.. lets post something to get this thread going again, for Rob

Its not as great as the other ID´s shown here, but here is a Panzerjeager soldbuch of a Schütze who climbed up to become a Sturmgeschütz Leutnant
He did fight (and got wounded) as a trained Sturmgeschütz Leutnant, but till now its unknown to me in which unit. Probably in one of the many kampfgruppe formed from the panzer schule.
                        Attached Files
I'm collecting anything related to the towns Castricum and Bakkum during WWII.
Also soldbucher from 116pzdiv. And 1944-1945 eastfront pockets, kampfgruppe and Oder front.

                              Rick,

I had a look and cannot find any entries in the pages shown that confirm he served as a StuG crew member/commander..... Which entries lead you to believe he was?

Somewhere in 1943 he started his officer training.
After that he went to Panzer-Lehrgänge Oldebroek (Netherlands).
And after that he went to 4. Panzerjäger-Sturmgeschutz-Lehr-Kompanie at Panzertruppen-schule Bergen (Germany).
