    19th Pz Division Signals Crewmember

Here is a scrap of paper that came with the soldbuch. It is written in Russian and I was told it is a request to have some pictures which were taken from him returned. I was also told that he apparently recieved his photos back. If you check the date it is 1957. This would be 12 years in Russian captivity!

Here's one that is unusual! Shows photo in black panzer wrap to a Stabsmusikmeister of 7 Panzer Division!!!

Other papers with the group show he conducted music for Hilter and Rommel!!!

These are scans on my computer....so can't do better for the time being!

        /Ian

                    AJ - lovely photo!

cpt1992: Some very nice Soldbücher you have in your collection. Notice on the replacement StuG.Abt.920 book that it would appear the photo was removed from his old Soldbuch and re-attached in this one. You can make out the old stamps on the photo from when it was originally stamped, as well as the old staple holes.

The 19.Panzer-Division Soldbuch is a great one, too. According to the stamps on the photo, it looks as though it was applied through the Abteilung's 1.Kraftwagen-Werkstatt-Kompanie... are there any entries for this unit? You posted only a few pages from the book so it's difficult for me to tell, but judging from the dated entries are you able to determine if he was with the 19.Panzer-Division during August of 1944? If so, then there is a good chance he may have taken part in the suppression of the 1944 Warsaw uprising (at the time of the uprising, 19.Pz.Div. was under the command of the IV.SS Panzer-Korps and was sent to assist in the suppression). I don't see any leave entries for this time frame, and as the PAB in Bronze entry dated Feb.45 was awarded through the 19.Pz.Division there's a good chance he could have.

                    Definitely worth looking in to...
