ID of a WH batalion

Hi to all;

Can anyone tell me what "2./J. Ers. Btl. 41" stand for?
Is this gebirgsjeger unit? Reason for my question is that the dogtag is beeing sold together with som GJ photos and some GJ sleve Edelweiss.

2 Kompanie, Inf. Ersatz bataillon 41, the soldier's training and depot unit. No direct link to a GJ unit though soldiers were transferred of course

Well I bought the dog tag together with some great posing picture of a solder (later unteroffizer) in Gebirgsjäger Regiment 99

Here´s the data on this unit- it was actually located in the north of Bavaria, but as written below, there was no direct "link" to some GJ unit.

Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon 41

1. Aufstellung:

* 26.8.1939 in Amberg, Wehrkreis XIII; 14.10.1941 motorisiert; 1.10.1942 geteilt; Grenadier-Ersatz-
respektive Ausbildungs-Bataillon (motorisiert) 41 am ,7.11.1942, jetzt in Er1angen; 1.4.1943 ver-
einigt zum Grenadier-Ersatz- und Ausbildungs-Bataillon (motorisiert) 41; 1.11.1943 wieder geteilt in
Ersatz- und Reserve- Bataillon; das Ersatz-Bataillon 14.4.1944 aufgelöst.


2. Unterstellung:

Division 193; 28.7.1941 Division 173; 10.4.1943 Kommandeur der Panzertruppen XIII (Ersatztruppe
für 10. Infanterie-Division)

I do not believe that the pictures and the dog tag belong together. The pictures are dated 1938 - 1941.

Anyway the dog tag has character and the pictures were nice so I’m happy anyway.
