If the death date is indeed incorrect (I have not checked myself), that in itself is nothing to worry about - this was / is a common occurance (and not just with late war death dates either) due to a multitude of variables.

There are a lot of errors and inconsistencies on the Volksbundes
Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge website. In the event of an inconsistency with a date of death (I've also found errors in the date of birth they have listed) I'd go with what's entered in the Soldbuch or Wehrpass.

The website is a great resource for verifying German KIA info but is nowhere near complete and isn't without its faults...
