      Hi,

Thank you Fronti, for your help.

This dog tag, was found inside of the Stalingrad pocket.
Do you think that could be possible that this unit has fought there?

      cheers

        Hello

The 4.(leichte) Artillerie Kolonne of the Artillerie Regiment 42 was transferred to Artillerie Abteilung 733 and renamed in Kolonne schwere Artillerie-Abteilung 733.
Now we have a look at the Artillerie Abteilung 733.

        What can we see ????

        Destroyed in Stalingrad in 1943.

        Best regards, Fronti

                Hello

The first one is from 5. Batterie / schwere Artillerie Ersatz Abteilung 49.
The second one is from 1. Batterie / Artillerie Ersatz Abteilung 171.
It is a great chance, that this guy spend his duty in the same Artillerie Regiment like my Grandfather. Artillerie Regiment 171 of the 71. Infanterie Division. (Destroyed in Stalingrad) Commander: Generalmajor Roske (+)

Please report all this dogtags to the WASt. It is very important !!!
From the 108.000 prisoners, went into POW, only 6000 (!!!!) survived it.
All others are dead and MIA (missing in action) still up today !

                www.dd-wast.de

There is a great chance, to get a dogtag of a dead or MIA soldier out of Stalingrad.
Please don`t buy dogtags out of Stalingrad.
The chance is very high, that these dogtags are from body-stripping (robbing of dead people) !!!!
                Only bastards do this !

In this case you can report this dogtags and that they are comming from Stalingrad, with eMail to the WASt. That is absolutely no problem.

                Best regards, Fronti

                  Hi Fronti,

Thank you again for your intervention.

The 5. Batterie / schwere Artillerie Ersatz Abteilung 49, was also in Stalingrad?
                  Which Division belonged?

I will send you a PM as soon as I can.

                  cheers

                    Hello

The Artillerie Ersatz Abteilung belonged to no Frontline Division, because it is from Ersatz-Heer. The Abteilung belonged to Division 191, after 1.10.1942 to Division 471. (These were not Frontline Division, these were called Shaddow-Divisions.
