The last award is the Cufftile Mölders, as he served with JG 51.

I would be concerned with the EK I entry as there is no date with it and appears to have been squeezed in...did he award this himself?

Not uncommon when people felt they deserved it and were not entitled, however not also uncommon for the entry to have been ommited from the Wehrpaß and the owner put it in himself when he was actually awarded it!!!

    Ian

      Karl,

I looked through my copy of Jagdgeschwader 51 "Molders" by Adler/Held and did not find any victories listed for Gobert. This is not to say that he did not have victories rather due to the late stage of the war the staffel records may no longer exist to confirm victories or his awards of EK1 and 2 were simply for surviving the sorties up to and thru the spange in bronze.

I will agree with Ian that the EK1 entry looks possibly added later.

It should be noted that though the number of front flights or possible victories were not listed in this Wehrpas it was a frequent practice to list both in the Wehrpas as well as in the Wehrstammbuch.

      Regards

      Jeremy

              News

Old thread but maybe someone else got info about this pilot? Victories would be interesting? Was it common for a pilot who served several years during the war and not have one victories?

                ..

Based on his Wehrpas it appears that his time in single seat fighters was in the closing months of the war. The air superiority of the Allies by that time meant that in general survival was more likely their challenge vs. getting victories.

His earlier flying units were Zerostorergeschwader so he would have either been engaged in ground attack role or attacks against bomber streams, usually with underwing mounted rockets.

I know ZG76 did engage in this role though I believe they were largely ineffectual due to the distance at which they engaged.

I have documents to ZG pilots who later transferred to single seaters and also had no victories.
