A while back, a grouping of these 'SS Hunde' tags, with names like Bruno, Max, Wolf, etc. began appearing on the market. In fact, this exact "SS Bruno 1" tag was offered to me directly a short while back but without the metal attachment loop or tattered collar remnants (which obviously have been added since this piece was offered to me).
I am of the opinion that these are basically old carnival tokens or industrial ID 'blanks' (the kind found attached with a wire to portable fire extinguishers, etc) that have just been recently stamped 'SS' along with a serial number and a dogs name, and artificially aged.
While an argument can be made that these are 'field made' pieces, I believe such an argument is just wishful thinking.
I have various examples of original SS Metal ID's for dogs and they are 10 times this quality.
