    Soldbuch question

    Hello,

I have seen an award entry for the sturm assault badge in silver. Is this an early war award or is it a fake award? It is for a pioneer.

    Thanks

Impossible to say if it's fake or not without a picture...what's the date of award? That'll tell you if it's early war or not.

    best
    Hank

The date is Jan. 14, 1943. Was the sturm assault badge given in bronze and silver? I have seen the numbered ones before.

Pioniere were awarded the "Allgemeine Sturmabzeichen" (or simply Sturmabzeichen). The Allgemeine Sturmabzeichen existed only in silver.

But as Hank said without a scan of the entry it is impossible to say if the entry is period.

I have only seen sturmabzeichen and allgemeine sturmabzeichen. Seeing the entry with silber added was new to me. Hence my questioning the entry.

Try to get a picture of the entry! A (Allgemeines) Sturmabzeichen for a Pionier is OK. 1943 I don´t call early though.

I think that there is a error in reasoning... (This is a word out of a translation program... Sorry...)

              Possible awards are:

+ Infanterie Sturmabzeichen Silber (Inf assault badge silver) = non motorized Infanterie

+ Infanterie Sturmabzeichen Bronze (Inf assault badge bronce) = motorized Infanterie

+ Allgemeines Sturmabzeichen (general assault badge) only in silver = for "supporting weapons" like Sturmartillerie or Pioniere (engineers)

              Best regards, Fronti

I would need to see the entry to be certain, however I have at least entries for the following for the General Assault Badge in Soldbuch and/or Wehrpaß:

                Allgemeine Sturmabzeichen

                Sturmabzeichen

                Heeres Sturmabzeichen (Beobachtungs Soldbuch)

                Pioniere Sturmabzeichen (Pioniere Soldbuch)

Sturmabzeichen für schwere Waffen (Infanterie Fla / Heeres Flak Soldbuch)

                  Fronti -
Not necessarily - mistakes were made. I have a document set with a wound badge in "bronce" from 1940. We all know there was no bronze wound badge, but somebody made the mistake. So it's POSSIBLE that somebody put in Silver for the assault badge when they were new or in a hurry.

                  A picture would sure help....

My friend sent me this question. I don't hear from him very often, since he is on based in northern Italy with a Nato contigency of instructors. Very busy! So a photo is probably impossible right now.

                      Hello Hank

                      Yes, you are right.
I forgot this sort of mistakes. (Old mistakes, or I will call it "original mistakes")

                      Best regards, Fronti
