    unusual Gebirgsjäger Werhpaß

I picked up this unusual GJ Wehrpaß at the recent Gunzenhausen show (not recommended! the parking lot sales are no more!!). It has the stamp "Rückgewanderter Südtiroler" and is of a Südtiroler who came to Austria to serve in the Wehrmacht.

Interesting Wehrpass.. I can see why he was drafted into the GJ !
A bit awkward to me however is that he isn't considered a Freiwilliger though he voluntarily came to Germany to serve?

Tim, I have not seen one like it and collected GJ for years. I decided that it was worth the Euro 50 that I paid for it at Gunzenhausen in the parking lot (for the few sellers there were!!)

I know the 6 Geb.Div. had South Tiroleans in the division but this is the first WP i've seen to one of them. Out of interest between the 11.5 and 20.5.1942 GJR 143 suffered 26 killed, 79 wounded and 4 missing, it's sister regiment GJR 141 which was more heavily involved in the fighting of April\May lost 3 times that number during the same period.
Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.
