    Help on soldbuch entry please

    All,

I'd appreciate some help with soldbuch entries. Can you correct assumptions I'm making if incorrect and help with questions? The location seems to be Jüterbog which I believe is in N.E. Germany?

    1) On the 1st page is marked "Fliegendes Personal" which is "flight staff" - meaning aircrew - correct??

    2) For the troop the entry reads:

    Überführungs u. Einfliegerkommando

I take this to mean transportation and test-pilot command - correct? What would that generally signify?

    3) On page 19 under "II. Kriegsgebührnisse" and under "Bescheinigung der Gruppe Verwaltung" there is a stamp =

    Überführungs
    u. Einfliegerkommando
    - gruppe Verwaltung -
    Reg. Inspektor

translates as "Transportation and test-pilot's command trenches management Government. Inspector" - but what does that mean?

    4) This oberfeldwebel has been awarded 6 medals (no dates are entered):
    EK2
    EK1
    sudetenland medal
    4 years service
    the 13.3.38 medal
    Pilot Badge

    - I see no entries that he was in combat and no flight clasps yet he has the EK2 and EK1. Would this be because he is a test pilot?

    5) Page 23 - "Beurlaubungen über fünf Lage" - "Leaves of absence more than five positions" I notice he seemed to have huge leave periods. eg. the last was from 1.11.44 to 30.4.45. Six months!!! Surely that's not normal or am I misunderstanding the meaning? (the dates are correct).

    6) Again on pg 23 - "Beurlaubungen über fünf Lage" each entery has a stamp containing a feldpost nbr. As far as I can make out these are:
    1.IV.43 - 29.IV.44 = L29482
    1.5.44 - 1.10.44 = L07770
    1.11.44 - 30.4.45 = L37203

    Can these be translated?

    7) Finally some of the later stamps refer to Batterie-führer. I assume flak unit??

Sorry it's long winded, but any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks
    Rich

Can you post images, that would perhaps be easier.

        1) He was Flying Personnel.

        2) Forget technical term but Aircraft Ferrying unit.

        3) That is the unit stamp and unit administration pay officer.

        4) I have dates at home.

        5) Leave of absence over 5 days......the grounds for leave are entered....could be special leave, operational leave etc.etc.

No.....it was not mine, however this was part of a large group of citations, photo album etc.etc.....the person that bought it did not want the Soldbuch

I am not at home at the moment but will be tomorrow.......if you check his Wehrnummer it is 1 Staffel, I Gruppe, Stuka Geschwader 168, which became I Gruppe, Stuka Geschwader 76.

I can tell you he got his EK's as a Stuka pilot in Poland and France......of course prior to the Spange being instituted. However can not remember if there were any with the group!

                          # 6 Leave entries:

the reason for his long leave periodes was "Arbeitsurlaub Weserflug".
He was working with the "Weser Flugzeugbau" which was the 4th largest German aircraft manufactorer. So it seems that he was a specialist and his
                          knowledge they needed at Weserflug.

Wikipedia has "Weser-Flugzeugbau" in it's contense (also the english version)

The location (town) where he was on leave was Lemwerder (not far away from Bremen) a little town where Weserflug had an important factory including an airfield!

##13: That's an interesting point, Gerdan. The Luftwaffe had some sort of strange policy on letting skilled personnel go off on "work leave". I am currently in the middle of 5 rolls of microfilmed Luftwaffenpersonalamt records from the last two or three years of the war. Several days ago I came across a fat folder of policy directives and correspondence concerning this subject. I didn't stop and read it in detail because it's about 160 pages and I am not really interested. Anyway, Arbeitsurlaub was a very common practice for mechanics, avionic specialists and others at the technical end of the aviation industry, both officers and enlisted. Also, note on the SB stamp for Flak-Regiment 26 ties in to all this. That Regiment served as Flakgruppe Bremen-Nord/8. Flak-Div. during all of 1944. The Weser Flugzeugbau plant was at Lemwerder, just north of Bremen on the west bank of the Weser.
