    ss wehrpass photo question

Hello. Has anyone seen a wehrpass photo in which the soldier is depicted 1/2 way between profile and straight-on? In this one, his whole body is angled and he is not looking at the photographer. Thanks

    Hi wolf,

Photos taken for attachment to a man's wehrpass, regardless of branch, per regulations, were to capture the man with his head turned to the right so that his left ear was visible and be from the chest up. (Emilie Caldwell Stewart, Wehrpaß, p.3)

You will find that many times regulations were not followed, at least as far as the instructions pertaining to photos were concerned. Most photos capture men directly facing the camera.

I believe this is more along the lines of the example you were referring to, correct? As contrasted with the first, which was of a man with only his head turned, this photo shows a man with his body angled in line with his head.

An example of a man facing to his left, which was technically not consistent with what was formally prescribed.

yeah, it is similar to the 2nd pic but with his head turned even a little more away from the photographer. I would post a pic but I don't have the item yet. thanks
