Old timer Wehrpass, with a twist! Help and opinions please.

    Hi,

I have very recently got rid of my deactivatred firearms collection and moved on to what I belive is the much more intersting part of Third Reich collecting, paperwork and I.D tags.

I now have quite a few Soldbuchs and Wehrpasses now, some from here in the U.K but mostly from Germany.

I have this old timer (WWI vet I belive) one in particular which is of great interest to me. I bought this in a job lot of paperwork from Berlin. I know this is genuine, that is not an issue, the price I payed for these would'nt justify buying a blank Wehrpass at trade let alone bothering to fill any of them in!

I would appreciate opinions on this please and translations of ranks, awards etc as I have not yet found a decent enough book to help me out and as for me understanding joined up writing I have no chance! I know I will have to learn!

The item that make me belive this could be unusual and very researchable (sorry, dont know if thats even a word) is pinned to this gents jacket

A price guess would also be welcome but only as curiosity, I have no plans to sell any of these. The only reason I sold my deactivated weapon collection is because of proposed tightening of legislation!

    Many thanks in advance,

    Scans to follow very soon,

    Joe Mclaughlin

          What I can read now:

The man is a salesman who speaks english and french.
Called in , in 1939, still fit for service , although he was over 50 years already.
But he didn't get placed in any unit. His ranks and awards in the First world war have been written down.

Could someone please explain what a 'anerkennungsurkunde' is please? I cannot find any English reference.

                  Thanks so much again,

It is a "document of recognition/appreciation". He got it nearly at the end of his career in May 1918 my be of good conduct.

Very nice! I just saw that Golden Party Badge. Now that must increase the value of the Wehrpass a bit.

Thanks for sharring, I like this one

Yes, a true Nazi. An alte Kämpfer. I'm sure that appeals to some collectors and would command a premium if sold to those whose niche it is.

Out of curiosity, why are you obscuring the man's face?

Thanks again for the info and comments guys.

The only reason I'm obscuring his face is nothing personal to anybody on the forum, its just that I've heard tales of unscrupulious people scouring the net for things to copy!

If anybody on here would like an unobscured picture then I will be more than happy to Private Message it to you!

Anybody got a ball park figure what this may be worth? I wont be parting with any of my paperwork items or I.D tags unless I get duplicates. I'm always in the frame of mind that its good to know what your collection is worth for insurance purposes etc.

                          Many thanks again,

                          Joe

No problem. I was just curious.

I think on the general market it would go for between $25-$75. If you do decide to part with it, I think you could get the higher range (plus perhaps a bit more) by finding someone whose collecting interest focuses on the NSDAP.
