Hello. I have a SS Id disc w/ a roll number of 121. I am trying to figure out whether the guy was an officer, nco, em. The disc has a division name and rgt#. Does the roll # mean the soldier's # in the division or in the rgt? Thanks

You can`t make a conclusion out auf the roll number ! That really isn't possible.
The 121 ist the 121st dogtag, that the unit (coy) handet over to a soldier.
It could be an officier, but it could also be a Schütze. It was the 121st soldier that needet a new dogtag.
The only way to solve the puzzle ist the WASt in Berlin.
But..... WAST don`t tell you anything if you are not a relative of the former dogtag wearer. No chance !!!
At least..... The WASt have only a very few number of SS dogtag list, because most of the SS Archiv was burned into the heaven in the Protectorate in 1945.
Best regards.

Edit:
To say more, please post the original inscript of the dogtag.Last edited by Frontalschaden; 08-16-2008, 04:03 PM.
