Dog tag ID.

I already asked this on the para forum but got no reply, so I will try my luck here. I have a dog tag with the following inscriptions:
62763
129 0

Anyone know who this dog tag could have been used by???

Well Jean-Loup, the Fallschirmjaeger Forum was a good place to try- it is likely a Luftwaffe code, so it would likely either be a Fallschirmjaeger unit or a flying unit. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of anyone with a good list of the codes of the latter. Jean-Yves Nasse and a couple of the other guys here have good lists of the FJ codes, however if no one answered your post, the code on your disc may not be one.

I can tell you that the 129 would be the soldier's Stammrollennummer (roster number) and the 'O' was his blood group.

I didn't mean to avoid this post, as I can often help deciphering dog tags quite well also, but in this case I can't provide an answer so I left it for others to do. I wish I had some documentation as to luftwaffe units, but I don't and as such can't provide any insight onto this tag.

Best of luck, hopefully Matt and myself have stirred up those who do have this information at the very least!

Thanks for the answeres guys; but someone on the Fallschirmjager forum was able to give me a very precise answere of what unit my dog tag corresponds to.
