    Award entries. Good or bad?

My feeling says no, to the EK II and EK I entrie.
I like to hear other opinions.

Reasons why I think they may be bad:

1.They are in the same handwriting (by itself not necessarily a red flag).
2.The awards are abbreviated. The less a forger needs to forge, the less probability he has to foul up (by itself this too is not necessarily a red flag).
3.Neither of the awards have the requisite stamp, signature, and rank (the stamp, blue signature, and Oberfeldarzt rank indication are all associated with the Wound Badge in Black entry - if you notice, the EK II entry is written over the stamp).

This is just my opinion. I'm sure some of the more knowledgeable guys will eventually weigh in.

      I side with Paul.

However the effect of the Ek2 entry written on top of the stamp can be the natural effect of of a light stamp being applied over much darker ink writing. The dark colour simply swallows the lighter ink giving the effect of the lighter ink being underneath.

Have a look on the opposite page and you can see the effect.

The purple stamp looks like the pre-printed black vertical lines of the page are on top of the stamp and give the effect that the stamp was done before the lines were printed.

I believe there was some talking about this SB before in this forum, can't find it right now - but it must be here somewhere. But the general opinion was that the entries are not good.

EK.2 and EK.1 entry are "hitch-hiking" on the wound badge entry and the stamp.
Both are looking bad as is for the signature.
And although such entries can be found : "In Ermangelung eines Dienststempels", I don't trust this one here.

But even the seller does have his concerns with the EKs entries and sees a problem......." ACHTUNG!!! DIE AUF S. 22 BEFINDLICHEN EK I - und EK II- EINTRAGUNGEN SIND HÖCHSTWAHRSCHEINLICH NICHT ZEITGENÖSSISCH!!! "........maybe you didn't read that comment ?!?!?!

That's why they looked so familiar.

                  Hi Henry,

When you want to have a look at the booklet and the description, then visit:

                  http://www.militaria321.com/auktion/...r-Lehrdivision

(Gentlemen, this is not a promotion for an auctioned Soldbuch, as the EKs award entries are bad !).

Last time there was a bid on it - and sold ?, now it is up for auction again, and a bid on it.....see what happens, maybe a "shadow" bidder for the seller ?

                      Hi Daniele,

Yes, here is the relevant thread: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=294364

Jeez, my memory is bad. That was just last month! I knew I had seen those entries very recently, I just could not find the thread.

                        Hi Daniele,

Yes Barry bought that one, and was able to return it, now that same Militaria321 member is selling it again, now with the description that the EKs entries might be not period done.......well that sounds better than not original any way.
