    luftwaffe MOB numbers on id tag

    Hello everyone im a newbie to the forum and wondered if anyone can help identify some numbers on a luftwaffe id tag that i have. There is a number 17 and below this is the letter B which i guess is the blood group then the numbers 65251. I would be gratefull for any assistance this fantastic forum can offer.

      B is not the Bloodegroup. B is Part of the code.

      B65251

      8./Zerstörer-Geschwader 1
      5./Zerstörer-Geschwader 26
      6./Jagd-Geschwader 6

        thanks for the information guys. Its an aliminium tag rather than zink would that make a difference to which unit it was issued to ie ZG rather than JG. As i believe ali tags were issued earlier than zink ones Sorry for being a bit ignorant as this is a new learning field for me. i really am greatfull for any help you can give.

          You can not make a different in material.

          The only way to choice the unit is the WASt, because only they can say which unit it is.

          As an example:

          Number
          1 - 1000 = 8./Zerstörer-Geschwader 1
          1001 - 2000 = 5./Zerstörer-Geschwader 26
          2001 - 3000 = 6./Jagd-Geschwader 6

          This is only be an example. The right way (and numbers) knows only the WASt.
