Am i correct in assuming that the flak batterie he was assigned to was deployed in Luftgau IX?

Thanks Winston

As a long shot, does anyone have any resource where i can start looking for the dates of air raids on Hannover to see if this guy was victim of an air raid? According to the WP he died the following day after the above entry. The gefallen entry is crossed out and gertboten (sp) has been written above. It seems to me that the clerk has made a distinction between killed in action and died. Then again it could be an accident as well but its an avenue id like to explore.

One final request on this Wp.

What does this stamp say? Is it authorizing the award of the Tatigkeitsabzeichen d.Flakartillerie?

Thanks again

The text of the stamp:

Verteidigung der Bodenorganisationen und militärischen und wehrwirtschaftlichen Anlagen im Heimatkriegsgebiet innerhalb des Bereichs Befehlshaber Mitte
103 Tage mit...tätigkeit
davon 5 mit Feindeinwirkung

The missing word could be "Gefechtstätigkeit" (?)

(L 52791) schw.Flak-Battr. z.b.V. 5925 was attached to schw.Flak-Abt. 801(v) (Flakuntergruppe Hannover-Ost) on 20.6.44. On that date, 169 B-24 Liberators from the 3d Bombardment Division in England bombed oil targets at Hannover-Misburg, which lies 7.8 km due east of Hannover-Stadtmitte (city centre). Only one B-24 was lost over the target.
