    Flak Wehrpass

    Hi all,

I got this Wehrpass a few days ago from a family member of the original owner of this pass.
Could someone give me some info about it?
I also would like to know what is written on photo#3.
    Thanks in advance,

    Stahlhelmwilly

      Name: Heinrich Helmut Max
      First unit: II./Flak-Ersatz-Abteilung 24

      then he went to

      Flaklehr und Versuchsbatterie (V2?! WOW!)
      I Versuchsbatterie F.A.4.I
      Stabsbatterie
      (Stab?)-Versuchsbatterie

      then he went to

      II./Ersatz-Regiment 1
      KW Werkstatte 104/XI

      3. Photo is signed by "Fuhrer"

The text has to do something with his Familyname "Wendtland" and his first regiment II./Flak-Ersatz-Abteilung 24

      4. He was "Tauglich" that means he is good for job
      he was in "Seestadt Wismar"

Thank you for the info, but what do you mean by V2?
Did he had anything to do with launching V2's?`

        And does II./Ersatz-Regiment 1 KW Werkstatte 104/XI
        mean KubelWagen Garage 104/XI?

I am not at home at the moment so can not check my records on V2 deployment, test and experimental units.

However, initially I do not think that this Flaklehr und Versuchsbatterie has anything to do with the V1/V2 weapons.

This particular unit was attached FAS 1 (Flakartillerieschule 1 in Rerik).

I do have a Soldbuch to a member of a V2 deployment unit and he does belong to a Ers.Regiment 1 (z.b.V) in 1944 which could be related!?!?

Perhaps Larry or someone else can privode some extra info in the meantime.

          /Ian

            26.1.41 – 5.1.43 Flak-Lehr-u.Versuchsbatterie/FAS I
            6.1.43 – 22.7.43 Stabsbattr./Flak-Versuchs-Abt. FAS I Rerik

Ian is spot-on correct, but I’ll amplify it a bit with some additional detail. Flak-Lehr-u.Versuchsbatterie/FAS I at Rerik was the instruction and demonstration component of the school, which was for schwere Flakartillerie only and had nothing to do with the V-weapon programs. It developed and taught new tactics at Rerik, and sent teams to the field to demonstrate these at regional Flak firing ranges. As the Flak branch expanded, the Batterie was increased to an Abteilung with 5 batteries.

On the basis of this guy’s assignment to the Stabsbatterie and then to Kw.-Werkstatt companies, I do not think he ever had anything to do with Flak weapons but was simply a motor pool jockey for the unit’s allotment of motor vehicles.

The familiy member wo gave me this Wehrpass also told me he was a mechanic during the war.
I only thought i'd ask what you guys had to say about it since i did not know anything about a unit of some kind.
The man stayed a good mechanic after the war the man told me and he died a couple of years ago.

A good automotive mechanic is worth his weight in gold and then some. It has become a very respected and well-paid profession, and today they are usually called servicing technicians. The term "mechanic" went out of use many years ago.
