    Auschwitz Wehrpass

Having seen the rare Auschwitz Wehrpass to a Rumanian guard on Bill Shea's website recently, I thought I would post pics of an even rarer one to a Hungarian guard!

This wehrpass is an exceptionally rare example and is complete with its matching stammkarte.

According to Auschwitz historian, Aleksander Lasik, the first Hungarian SS members arrived in Auschwitz in 1942. These guards, totalling 18, were transferred from the training depot Debica.

During the entire history of the camp complex (Aus I,II & III), the total number of Hungarian guards who served there between 1942-1945, was 41. The highest amount serving there at any one time was 38 in 1943. By the time this chap was about to leave Auschwitz in late '44, he was one of only 36 Hungarian guards out of a total garrison of 3,342.

Compare this to the Auschwitz WP on Bill Shea's site to a Rumanian guard, of which there was nearly triple (111) the amount of Hungarians, and this makes the Rumanian example relatively common in comparrison!

A shame they used to be one the best sources in the UK in the early 1990's...I'm not sure they've sold much since 2000!

                    Hello

                    Nice Wehrpass.

Here are some questions of a Wehrpass newbie:

                    1.) What means K.M.V. ? Kampfmarschverband ?

2.) Does anybody have some informations abput the SS Pz Gren Btl "Teutoburg" ?

Best regards and thanks for showing, Fronti

                        SS-Pz.Gren.Btl "Teuteberg" was part of SS-Pz.Gren.Rgt "Schill". This was eventually redesignated SS-Pz.Gren.Rgt 86 / 32. SS-Frw-Pz.Gren.Div “30 Januar”.
