And now, Goritzka was crew leader on Pz III, one of the few which was really destroyed at La Horgne by 25mm AT gun (many immobilizated, but repaired after the battle).
Looking for more info (panzer number, rest of the crew, maybe a pic...)

      Myth:

Your contribution to this thread is very, very much appreciated.

*** While the Wehrpass may be Robert's, I had a "little hand" (Paw ??) in helping get it into Robert's collection so am most pleased with the way this story is turning out...

Posting from member Onliner-Germany, who is new to the forum, and wasn't quite sure how to post:

        Hello

My name is Uwe, I live in Eisenach (Germany) and am the grandson of Fritz Ewald
Uffz Goritzka. I do not know much about my grandfather and I hope here on much
new information. I also have something read from a book about Uffz Goritzka,
even this I would like to learn more. It would be nice if some members could
send pictures of my personal documents. Thank you!

(Sorry for the bad text, it has been automatically translated.)

        Greetings U. Goritzka

Hello, was your Grandfather killed during the war? If so, do you know where, or with what division he served with?

Jerry, he is saying that he is the grandson of Fritz Goritzka, the man from the Wehrpass. This has been a very interesting thread, and yet, another turn!

Hi Tim, yes very interesting indeed!

I was actually asking as I recently traded a Wehrpaß some months back that belonged to a prior member of Pz Rgt. 1 who served with that unit during Poland and France. During 1942 he transfered from Pz Rgt. 1 to Pz Abt. 116 of PzGr. Div 16 and was KIA July, 1943 in Russia . I cannot recall his last name exactly from the Wehrpaß, but it was either Ewald, or Ewaldt. A long shot for sure, but just checking to see if it is possibly Goritzka's Grandfather.

So far the grandson keeps "reporting" these posts, instead of replying to the thread. He's written to the mods twice now...hopefully he'll get the hang of the "reply" button...

                  Hank,

Sorry for the late reply but I've been extremely busy....... Can you please tell Uwe to contact me via private message? I'll gladly send him high-resolution scans of his grandfather's Wehrpass.

                  Thanks!

                    Hi,
the man from the service record is 100% to my grandfather. My father had found the passport in my grandmother's estate and sold a few years ago to a collector. I had only a few details, but the name, place of birth, rank, unit, and death and the grave number match.
I would like especially about the book that has mentioned Rob Johnson. Can someone help me there?

                    Best regards

                    U. Goritzka

Wow, this thread is turning crazy.
We now have the grandson of Fritz Goritzka.

Here is a painted portrait of Fritz made by Thierry Moné, author of the book "Les spahis de La Horgne" where we can see the WP

                        Uwe,

The book I mentioned is Les Spahis de La Horgne by Thierry Moné (ISBN 978-2-35771-010-8) and on page 87 you will find your grandfather's picture and page 34 from his Wehrpass.

If you contact me via PM and give me your email address I will be more than happy to send you high-res scans of the entire Wehrpass.

What a great thread this has turned out to be!

                          Hello,

I had not counted on new messages. The more I've enjoyed over the new entries here, thank you!

The book I could find, unfortunately, not yet, but it is from 2011 and therefore not widely available. But I'll keep looking. My father would be very pleased about the book. Thanks again to all!

Greetings from Uwe Goritzka / Eisenach / Germany

(Sorry for the bad English, it is an automatic Google translation)

Hi Guys. Really great Wehrpass, Rob, you have done a good job ther ! Thats the proof that History can be studied even with "simple" Wehrpass. With other Words, a SB or WP do not necessary need a DK or RK Entry to be interesting...
Concerning Thierry Moné, I know him and if Uwe is interested, I can ask him if a Copy of his Book his still available.
Hallo Uwe ! Solltest du Interesse haben, kann ich gelengentlich Thierry Moné fragen, ob er noch e. Exemplar haette, d. Mann kenne ich persönlich gut. MfG.

Rob, you may have this already, but here's a photo of the Spahis memorial in La Hogne for you. I have many photos from the area if you would like any.
