    W.L.B. Niedersachsen = Weiterleitungsbahnhof Niedersachsen = Railway Forwarding Station Niedersachsen. "Niedersachsen" = Lower Saxony (a state in the western part of Germany).

        Sounds good, but......


        Niedersachsen ist not a town, Niedersachsen is a federal state in germany and has many (!) Weiterleitungsbahnhöfe !!!!

        Niedersachsen: 47.624,22 km²
        Population: 7.977.400

        Look here:

        I don´t think that Weiterleitungsbahnhof is the clue to the puzzle.

          Hmmm........ I know the Wehrmacht had just two Umschlagsbahnhöfe for the entire Balkans: Agram and Belgrad. So why not just one (or two) Wehrmachts-Weiterleitungsbahnhof for Niedersachsen? The difference between a Umschlagsbahnhof and a Weiterleitungsbahnhof is not all that great. It is possible that the Wehrmacht may have had just one in Niedersachsen to forward freight to the Netherlands.

          What bothers me is that the Erkennungsmarke does not say "Wehrmacht". In fact, it does not say anything military on it at all, or anything that would connect it to the Deutsches Reichsbahn for that matter.

          It doesn't look right to me.
