    Rommel Soldbuch

Has anyone handled the Rommel Soldbuch? A photo of the first page of the SB can be found on the WAF Show Forum. After looking over the only close up shot showing the first page it left no warm fuzzies. Granted it was only one photo of one page, but compared to other General Officer Soldbuchs such as Manteuffel's currently for sale it just looks odd.

It does not compare to any other high ranking officers....never handled it but got scans of it some years ago when it was for sale in Hermann Historica's catalogue...also his Wehrstammbuch and driving license was around then too!

The scans are on my PC at home somewhere......if I remember correctly the catalogue was posted on the forum around 5 years ago....the images for that though will have long gone.

DM 50,000.- if I remember correctly for the Soldbuch!

I don't remember seeing the Soldbuch, but I do remember the driver's license and the Wehrstammbuch. I know the buyer of the Wehrstammbuch and personally reviewed it and can tell you that the entries are original.

Thanks Ian and Barry. That's interesting. Suprising to hear that other items were also involved. Sounds like both the Soldbuch and Wehrstammbuch came from a larger group of paper items? If so, at some point they must have been broken up. Wonder if they came from a family relative, Wehrkreis vet who held them, or collector.

Rumor has it that the auction house of Andreas Thies is soon going to offer the Rommel Soldbuch. Make sure everyone saves their money if it turns out to be original - oh yeah, and re-mortgage your home.

Looks like we'll get to see if it's the real deal or not. I wrote to Andreas Thies and this is what he had to say:

the soldbuch will be in our June 5 auction the catalogue will be out around may 5th and can also bee viewed on the internet www.andreas-thies.de. The estimate is Euros 35.000,--

            Best regards

            Andreas Thies
