    Very interesting indeed Joerg!!!

I can tell you that many of the signatures in the Soldbuch are that of Oblt. Hans Schalanda EL, KiA 26.3.1945 as Hptm., also that on page 3 Oblt. Rudolf Neumann RK, later Hptm. in the Flugbuch!

I/Stuka (Schlacht) Geschwader 1 made many combat and support missions to and around Stalingrad as opposed to other Gruppen in the Geschwader!

Herr Remane was most probably transferred when the unit converted to FW 190....no need for an airgunner then!!!

It is becoming unusual to find a multi-item set like that these days because of the very high demand for Flugbücher. The Stalingrad entries make it even more valuable. The Bordfunker remained with the same unit for a long time: I./St.G. 1 to 18 October 1943, then I./SG 1 to 1944.

              Thanks guys

The Pilot written in the Flugbuch is 'OFw. Rüdiger' ... any chance that this is OFw Albert Rüdiger who got the DKiG on 26.11.1943 as a member of 5./Stuka-Geschwader 2?

This group is very nice, but not really my collecting interest, so it might be on E-Stand soon.

              Best wishes

              Joerg

5/Schlacht Geschwader 2 was formed 18.10.1943 from 5/Schlacht Geschwader 1.....same Geschwader but different Gruppe!

As his Dk was awarded roughly the same time as the unit was changed I would think this Rüdiger had been with Sch.G 2 for some time......there is a possibility that it is the same guy but more research of the Flugbuch is needed to see when they last flew together.....whether or not he was with Sch.G. 1 at the time when awarded the DK...thus proving it is someone else!

The last flight of OFw Rüdiger and Uffz. Remane was on 02.10.1942

                    Hi,

                    I have one question:
                    - to which unit he belonged while attacking the targets in Warszawa during the Warsaw Uprising?

                    TIA

                    Robert

He was a member of 2 Staffel, I Gruppe, Schlacht Geschwader 1. At that time stationed at the airfield at Modlin.

Page 4 of his books says he belonged to 2. Staffel/SG 1 from 3 August 1944 to 28 January 1945. During August 1944, his unit flew many missions against the resistance in Warsaw. Here is a short extract of I./SG 1’s history for August – September 1944:

23 Aug 44: Ju 87D-5 shot down by small arms over the Warsaw stock exchange building, crashed and burned, 100%, crew of 2 both KIA. Gruppe provided air support to German forces engaged in suppressing the Warsaw Uprising that began on 1 August.
Sep 44: pilots rejoined the Gruppe at Modlin/32 km NW of Warsaw and then the entire Gruppe, once again under 1. Fliegerdivision, moved to Lüben/22 km NNE of Liegnitz in Silesia around the end of September or beginning of October to await its turn for conversion to the Focke-Wulf FW 190 at Königgrätz (Hradec Králové). As events turned out, the conversion location was changed to Schönfeld-Seifersdorf in Silesia.

Forgot I replied to this post....just come across it as I have just bought a group to a member of the same Gruppe being 1/SG 1. Similar missions over Warsaw.

Attached an aerial photo from the group.

                              /Ian
