    Schwere-Panzer-Jäger-Abt.525 Nashorn Grouping

    Hi,

Here is one of my grouping related to Italy.

Uffz. HAAS was belonging to Stabskp./sch.Heeres-Pz.Jg.Abt.525,
a German Tank Destroyer Battalion which fought in Russia and Italy.

    Jean-Yves

The portrait is mat and not glossy. Probably made in Italy.

For my point of view, Sicily/Italy is definitivly the most interesting campaign in WWII. You had a bunch of D-Days and big units fought there. Any special interest ?

                        Jean-Yves-

Do you have any Panzer crewmember Soldbücher? Particularly any with a black panzer wrap photo and a PAB in silver award

If so, I'd love to see them!

For those interested, Pz.Jäg.Abt 525 were equiped with the 88mm Nashorn and were very successful in destroying enemy armour. One Uffz. in particular earning the Knight's Cross for actions in May 1944 in the Cassino area.

Interestingly, the 15th July must have been a busy admin day as he also received his Kuban Shield on the same date implying that the entire battalion probably did too!
