    Help with a Funker´s Soldbuch

    Hello everyone:
I´ve reciently acquired a Luftwaffe Soldbuch that belonged to Obergefreiter G. Weidner, Funker, who was born in Wattendorf, Bamberg.
He belonged to 16./Erg Ln Rgt 4. Another entries in his Soldbuch stated that he also belonged to 6. Ln Ers Kp/ Lg Nach Rgt 17, in Wien and then in Augsburg. As for his "Truppenteil bzw. Dienststelle" entry, the last one (on 1 June 44) states that he belonged to Ln Verb Komp mot 4 (163 Stammrolle). He also spent a period in the "Luftwaffe Lazarett" in Glatz and was awarded the KVK II. Klasse mit Schwerten on 20 April 1944.
I´d like to know, if possible, some info about the units above quoted, as well as, any "hypothetical path" (in this Funker´s war years).

Many thanks in advance and best regards.

... and I got it three years later...
At last, I could find his "path". This man was a cook in a "Luftnachrichten" unit during the war, being deployed in the East front. He joined the army in 1941 and became a POW in Czechoslovakia, on 8 May 1945. He belonged to the "Luftnachrichten Rgt. 4" by that time. From that date till 10 September 1949 (4 years), he was imprisoned in a "Lager" located on the Northwest of Moscow. Finally he could arrive to Berlin on September 13th. Georg Weidner died in 1973 due to a apoplexy.
I could find his relatives. They kindly provided me with the information and some photos.
"Better late than never"... Best regards. Óscar

Several photos taken most probably in Russia. Note the "Motor transport equipment administrator" patch worn by the "Unteroffizier". Weidner is on the left

For units, the best thing for initial unit description etc. is to take a look at Michael Holm's page :

              http://www.ww2.dk/

              http://www.ww2.dk/ground/ln/ln4.html

              http://www.ww2.dk/ground/ln/lnvers.html

              They should be listed there....

              /Ian
