    Ostbattalion 441 Kennbuch D-Day

    Hello.

I think this is a nice "Kennbuch" for this Ukrainan soldier (can not read out the name) from Ostbattalion 441. I have found some info that the Ostbattalion 441 was in the area " La Riviere & Courseulles-sur-Mer " on Gold / Juno Beach on D-Day. And that the 2 ´nd company was armed with 7 Mg and 2 static mortars.

Maybee some of You can help me with more infos ?

    Cheer´s

    Björn

                  Here is what we have:

                  Ost-Btl 441
Formed 15 January 1943 in the Rzhev area by or for XXXXI. Panzerkorps/9. Armee with a Stab and 1.-2. Kp. Its two companies were created by renaming Ukrainer-Kp. 52 and Jagdkommando-Kp. 52, both of which had been under LIII. Armeekorps/2. Panzerarmee.
                  History:
10 Sep 42: Ukr. Kp. 52 and Jagdkommando-Kp. 52 both in the Bryansk-Orel area under XXXXI. Panzerkorps/2. Panzerarmee.
                  1 Feb 43: Bryansk-Orel area under LIII. Armeekorps/2. Panzerarmee.
12 Oct 43: now with a Stab and 1.-4. Kp.
19 Jan 44: transferred from the East to Normandy and reassigned to 7. Armee.

Jun 44: fought with distinction around Caen following the D-Day landings, possibly while attached to 716. Inf.Div. By 22 June the Battalion had been reduced to just 200 men, and a few days later it was officially declared destroyed and subsequently disbanded.
10 Aug 44: Feldpost number deleted this date.

                            Hello to all,

Our passion often reserves surprises and the presentation of the Kennbuch for a member of the Ost Btl 441 by Björn delighted me for a reason that you will understand easily by consulting the diploma below.

Oh yes, it is well question of the officer of whom has speech Björn in the last message. Happy coincidence to make meet these two documents after many the time. It is as to it that this forum serves.

                            Cordial greetings.

                            Polux

                              Pol and Björn,

Must be a great thread for both of you.
This is what WAF makes so interesting.

To answer your earlier question Björn, those booklets are very rarely seen on the market, and I was never able to buy one for my own collection.

                              yours

                              Eric-Jan
