    Fake dog tag?

    A question for experts.

    A problem with an Erkennugsmake with this initials 1/ABT. NCT. 33

    The NCT abbreviation is described "Nachrichten"

    For me is a fake.

    Your opinion?

        There was no abbreviation "NCT." for anything, much less Nachrichten. Furthermore, it's backwards. If it were real, it would read: 1./Nachr.Abt. 33.

        P.S. there are now so many of these forgeries floating around out there that many of us are getting tired of replying to these inquiries. I would estimate that for every real Erkennungsmarke in circulation there are 4 fakes.

                  Mr.dogtag is right.

                  Germans wouldn`t stamp 04 (personal number), they would stamp 4 on the dogtag.

                    I wouldn't generalize - I have a number of original tags ( like SS-Rekruten Depot Debica or Leg.Sam.Lager Saslaw) with Stammrolle actually staring with 0 (but 5 digit numbers)
                    Anyway this tag is a fake and no doubt about it.
