    looking for unit with FPN

    Hello

I hope I am at the right adress, but I am looking for the unit this Kriegsmarine gasmask comes from.

I have had this for a long time, and got it from my uncle, who picked it up at the time the city of Groningen was liberated in 1945. It was standing in my grandmothers cellar for all those years until I asked for it. (when i was 12 years old , i'm 43 now )

Recently I found the mike for this mask and became interested in it again.

Now I'd like to have more info about the unit it may have come from

    Attached are the pictures

      Hi Ian

Thanks very much, may I ask where you got this information ??

Unfortunately no information about the whereabouts of this man in 1945.
Is there a site where I can find more info ?

        Hi Tom,

The info is taken from "die Feldpostübersicht der deutschen Wehrmacht 1939-45". It lists the units that the Feldpost number belonged to by date.

Marine-Peilabteilung Flandern was formed 19.1.1942 in Brussels and transferred May 1944 to Brügge, it was disbanded October of the same year.
It came under Kommandant der Seeverteidigung Pas de Calais.

It depends when he joined the unit and when he left it! From his Stammrollennummer it can be seen he joined in 1941.....no way of knowing what his last unit was or how it got to Groningen.

          Hello Tom

I live in Brügge were the MHPS Marine HauptPeilstelle was, and I can tell you all about it, even have pictures of it.

Would be great to have these pictures to: uboot1221@hotmail.com

I hope we can meet in the future to exchange information about this naval unit in Belgium and some Groningen.

          Greetings

          Joe
