Panzer unit dog tag - unit?

Can anyone tell what Division / Regiment this tag's owner served in?

I'd be grateful for any help!

There is no reference in Tessin to a "Pz.Abt.Stab.K. 216". Only the following:

    http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...erAbt216-R.htm

The letter "K" is a problem for me, unless it is supposed to stand for "Kanone". The letter "K" in a unit designation usually stands for "Kriegsgefangenen", but POWs would not have been used for a Sturm-Panzer-Abt.!

For me the letter K is no Problem, because he is a regular abbreviation for Kompanie, in this case a regular abbreviation for Stabskompanie. It is o.K.

The Problem is the z Pz, because it is mirror-inverted and with a normal stamping set you can`t stemp mirror-inverted letters !!!!!!

If you will have a sharper look at the 216. Division, than you will see, that it was be a infanterie division without a Tank Abteilung 216. There it was only be a Sturm-Haubitzen-Abteilung 216, but that is not Panzer Abteilung 16.

      I think: Fake !!!

      Best regards, Fronti

        Hi Fronti -

Although "K" was a legitimate abbreviation for Kompanie, "Kp." was used far more often. Perhaps with the Erkennungsmarken it was necessary to "super-abbreviate" in many cases because there was so little space. I have rarely (if ever) seen just a "K" used for Kompanie in documents.

        Cheers,
