Wow, now this is what I call a properly-researched Soldbuch!

What an excellent story you have retold; thoroughly researched and written with an understanding and appreciation of the events. The maps and US Army photographs of the battery are the icing on the cake

Congratulations on your new acquisition, Daniele! I know how badly you have been looking for a Normandy campaign KIA Soldbuch and it looks like your persistence has paid off!

Thanks for sharing this with us.

              Dark Side

A very intresting and sad Normandy soldbuch.
I believe the fighting in Normandy had a very dark side- young soldiers under extreme stress killing PoWs.
I am certain the famous HJ Division started it, but I still remember the Canadian vet who told me " After that we really went after them" at a 1984 anniversary.
Like the Mark Brando account says "Life was Cheap" durring the summer of 1944 in Normandy.

Daniele, an excellent interpretation of a very intersting Soldbuch! With the supporting information it has a greater interest!!!!!

Now isn't it much better when you do the research yourself

                Well done!

Here's mine, a 65 mm Carl Heidelberg, bought it direct from special service brigade commando who served in Normandy. It is in lovely condition, unsharpened, perfect. It is my favorite piece of my TR collection ... well ... I do like my EK's too ! Here she is ....
