Jeff, you are correct but in the chaos at the end of the war a lot of strange things happened. It is not unusual to find a Soldbuch with the picture removed for use elsewhere, with pages torn out and the Wehrpäße were often lost/destroyed when the unit was destroyed or captured. I have a Knights Cross winner Wehrpass which does not have the Knights Cross entered in but many pictures of him wearing it. That makes the document area very interesting!

Very nice! This page also has the signature of Meinrad von Lauchert, the subject of my upcoming biography. He was the company commander of 2./PR 35 when it was formed in Oct 1938 and this guy was one of his boys from the beginning! It is only too bad that the Soldbuch does not cover the Polish campaign.

Thanks for showing it. It is the first Wehrpass I have seen with his signature and from that early period.

What an amazing Soldbuch and Wehrpass set to a very, very desirable unit! I love that Soldbuch - just chock full of entries! Lots of history contained in those pages... One could spend several hours retracing his military career and combat experiences.

        Spectacular
